Mike Stewart was born in Connecticut on the east coast of the U.S. He studied at the Hartford Art School, a department of the University of Hartford and the Lamar Dodd School of Art in Cortona, Italy. He received his B.F.A. in fine art printmaking with a minor in English in 1999. Mike has been teaching fine art courses in South Korea since 2003. He teaches adult Korean and non Koreans drawing, painting, illustration, and printmaking. In 2010 Mike formed the art program "Sketch and the City," a plein air painting course that has developed to include other drawing and painting from life events throughout Seoul. In 2012 Mike opened Jankura Artspace, a share studio and art academy in Seoul.
