Each of my sculptures is hand-formed and recall familiar things in nature. I live in an area on Cape Ann, MA where the shoreline, beaches and gardens are plentiful, and inspire all of my work. I've chosen to work with porcelain because it allows me to go to wafer thin forms which I find the most interesting. I glaze most pieces in high gloss arctic white so that the light plays off them in visually pleasing ways. Each twist and turn you see is individually hand-propped by me. I've chosen this style of hand-building because I love the fluidity, energy and organic shapes that eventually come. I also enjoy the quiet and control that come with hand-building as opposed to using a wheel. In addition, I am creatively addicted to the surprise factor of this method. My intention with my art is to provide a moment of respite and visual pleasure in this chaotic world.

When I discovered that I could take raw porcelain in the palm of my hand and fashion it into delicate, intricate, organic forms, I never looked back. By shaping every sculpture with my hands I can achieve the full range of energy and expression I seek. Each sculpture shape recalls the forms and motion of flowers, sea plants and ocean waves which are on Cape Ann, my home, and where the earth and ocean meet in spectacular forms. My work as a porcelain artist is an extension of my writing about interior design and architecture. Both are about making our homes beautiful and authentic. Architectural Digest has characterized my work as "the epitome of nature-inspired elegance". That is what I work to achieve in each piece I create. I have been working in ceramics since 2003 and began working in porcelain in 2011. Today I have collectors across the globe and several public installations across the US in luxury hotels and lobbies.
