The inspiration behind A Small Matter Of Words My work explores the language of figurative sculpture, but with a conceptual twist that engages and attracts the viewer. I am always on the look out for interesting shapes and forms created by the human body. A Small Matter Of Words, the small version of my successful sculpture A Matter Of Words, is inspired by Tom Daley diving at the Olympics. This shape, called a pike, is the moment when Tom is at the pinnacle of the dive. I am interested in using unusual and socially iconic materials as part of my practice. Crosswords are easily identifiable and by applying them to the surface of a wall displayed papier mache figure the viewer is drawn in to look closer. The title of the sculpture A Matter Of Words bridges the gap between the crosswords and the form of the sculpture. Edition of 20
