The Armstrong lighting object is inspired by the ingenious constructional solution design of bicycle frames and the readymades spirit of Marcel Duchamp. It is salute to Lance Armstrong, the seven-time winner. One of the most powerful and, at the same time, saddest stories in the cycling sport. Lance Armstrong won over cancer, as well as all his competitors, only to lose all his most precious sports triumphs due to doping. Perhaps it was his glorious and subsequently tragic career that lead the Glassbrothers to name their largest, most impressive, most complicated and heaviest artwork of this exhibition after him. It hangs as a Damocles’ sword from the ceiling, suggesting the complex fate defying common understanding of physical and mental limits of human performance.

I wanted to be like Modigliani. I just wanted to be like him, because he had a simple portraits. They sat and had their hands as they lay hands or so. So I bought a book Modigliani that I inspire, and there I accidentally learned that he wanted to be like Velasquez. So I bought Velasquez, but he wanted to be like Botticelli, Botticelli and Michelangelo again.
