Unsought Terminus No.1 is made from Western Red Cedar. This piece of wood is quite light in colour for WRC giving the piece a very creamy desaturated look. There are also some darker specks streaking the wood around the main convex area which in contrast to the light colour add some visual texturization. I think the colouration of the wood suits the piece well with the mysterious nature of the concept.

In the search for insights into the nature of reality I find we tend to have a predetermined goal which does not lead to the realization because the goal itself is an illusion constructed from the current mind. I notice, the necessary condition for the discovery of something "totally new" is in an ending of something which was preventing the insight from happening. This process of negation is terribly interesting to me and it has become the subject of this sculpture. The "spout" represents the unthought of direction of clarity leading out of the habitual and stagnating thought pattern.
