About The Artwork
Last butterfly of a series of seven. Acheron was, for Greek mythology, the underground river of the underworld through which Charon ferried the souls of the dead into Hades. Represents the transition from life to death. The work is loosely based on the Acherontia atropos moth, also known as the death's head sphinx. A distinctive feature of this moth is a white spot, which resembles the shape of a skull, placed on the dorsal side of the chest.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015.
