For decades women from mexico have been crossing the border looking for a better future chasing the American dream. leaving their families behind and unprotected, In their quest to conquer the american dream their kids grow alone in a world of violence and drug cartels that in most cases will end their lives. this piece portrays half a skull with mickey ears whos reflection is mirrored and completed by the steel disc, and it gives the iulusion of an hologram.

CARTÚ, 1987 Multidisciplinary artist dedicated to exploring the fields of architecture, sculpture and design in different schools and workshops in Mexico City, Paris, London, New York and Japan. In 2015 he received his BA Architecture Degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México; his thesis “Ruinas Contemporáneas” (Contemporary Ruins) received the Abraham Zabludovsky award for the best thesis in architectural composition, and in 2019 he completed his Master in Fine Arts Degree at Parsons, The New School, NYC graduating with Departmental Honours. Cartú was selected as a finalist for the MTV RE:DEFINE Award presented by The Goss-Michael Foundation, and nominated for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship in Painting & Sculpture in the same year. He currently lives and works between Mexico City and New York.
