ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The works titled "An all-male, cockratic environment" elicits reminiscences of youthful homoerotic longing and an allure for both human and aquatic bodies. This work repurposes salvaged fishing equipment to create representations that could be interpreted as a tribute. During the creation of this sculpture, I dove into Queer theory to learn about Queer Ecologies, progressive Queer Sexologies, and Queer liberationist theory to develop a deeper understanding of Queerness and the histories of Queer individuals, including my own. The work interrogates the intricate interplay of social, political, and geographical influences that mold the subtle dynamics of shame, gaze, and libido within Queer cultures. During the process, I remained acutely aware of the pervasive threat to identity that is often linked to forbidden erotic desire, which is frequently criminalized by overarching authoritarian power structures and stigmatized by family, community, and peers.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Life is nourished and shaped by personal symbolism, individual and collective stories of experience, belief, ritual, mythology, social fears, and desires. Drawing from this eclectic set of references, I create relational, poetic, and critically thought-out forms combining high and low art, using criticality and humour to explore parallel times and spaces. My work focuses on creating space for speculative and fictitious queer bodies, survivance, and a sense of place while raising questions of belonging, conflict, and anxiety. I combine overlooked, undervalued, and discarded objects with images and materials in an attempt to emphasize the "re-seeing" of certain histories that have been forgotten or ignored. My oeuvre is a hybrid visual language that oscillates between gestural expression and strategy of chance. My process reflects an accumulation of life's associations, intuiting facets of intimacy, control, and the freedom of letting go of total control.
