About The Artwork
Anémosa is part of a series of figurines in which Florence Hendriks re-imagines the female superhero. These superheroes are borne out frustrations of how powerful women are represented in popular culture. Anémosa is inspired by Caspar David Friedrich's Wanderer above the Sea of Fog. Anémosa is no wanderer, with her wings she leaps into the sky. She has eagle eyes, crucial to her defence and attack while also giving her the power of foresight.
