Barbados
I am a 6 times Award Winning Artist, living in London and Barbados. As an Artist I have been creating for over 20 years, and collaborating with a variety of artists and a number of projects around the world in group as well as solo exhibitions in London UK, Barbados and Montserrat. I received Awards for my sculptures in the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) 2018 & 2017, and more recently in the 2018 Central Bank Crop Over Visual Arts Festival I won an Incentive and Best In Show Awards for my sculptural art and textile wall hangings, both festivals were held in Barbados. I have also had my work published in 3 books - Zen Doodles – Tons of Tangles, Zen Doodles – Oodles of Doodles and 1000 Dog Portraits, and also The Nation’s Better Health Magazine on the effects of Arts and Health. my interests lay in using a variety of materials such as clay, fabric, recycled materials and collage to create the art and tell a story t through the use of colour and texture. I am allso passionate how the art can tell stories juxtapose with the viewers own stories and experiences. I am also keen to explore how art and creativity can impact on health and well-being and how we use creative expression as a means of communication, and I curate an Arts in Health Network alongside writing for my website and blogs. I have been called upon to speak at a variety of conferences and seminars and small workshops on the impact of dementia on a carer, the use of art and creativity resources in a care setting and creative dementia strategies for those working in healthcare and wider. At the Alliouagana Festival of the Word 2016 in Montserrat I spoke about the use of social media and ways in which personal stories can be told. I produce 3 episodes a week for my Podcast (Realityarts) which I share aspects of art, creativity, interviews and reviews. I am blessed to live and work in London and Barbados.
