Rogério Abreu was born in Torres Vedras, Portugal in the year 1967. Curious by character and not one to stay still for long, it was obvious from early days that art would become part of his world. After completing Secondary school he opted to move into the centre of Europe (Switzerland) and from there he grew as a artist and as a man. His time in Switzerland played crucial role in his development, more precisely the contact with other people, other places, different cultures, different ways of thinking and living. From his early days until the beginning of new millennium, drawing and oil painting were the chosen techniques for his works. However, during this period he had already tried his hand using wood and clay (having built himself a potter's wheel when he was 13 years old). Deeply involved with art, pushed forward by a constant questioning of all that surrounds him and the need to unleash his creative energy he was guided to a style of art that grew and took hold of him. It was from 2004 that he concentrated on art, and it was by chance that sculpture became the means by which he began to make a name for himself. He is not a follower of art trends, but he has managed to come to the limelight both home and abroad but showing diversity in his work through constant study and research.
