About The Artwork
Apollo - The god of the sun. Apollo is Jupiter’s son. A great archer, he is oftentimes hotheaded and lustful. In Book I of Metamorphoses (Ovid), his lust for Daphne leads him to caress and kiss her—even after she has been turned into a tree. Other my sculptures- Daphne is related to this artwork. Daphne is transformed into a laurel tree as Apollo seeks to rape her.
