"Argyle" Interior Sculpture

Argyle is based on repetition and acute angles. It has a stately presence and is systematic with geometric underpinnings. Argyle has an unexplained uncompromising power… an iconic feel. The top of the sculpture not only defines the conclusion of Argyle but it likely adds to the iconic power of the work. The vertical top counters the obtuse thrust of the piece while completing its structural unification. It turns out to exemplify some of the basics components of structural strength. It might well be an architectural proposal for a skyscraper. All of my sculptures are made out of wood (Cedar). They are intended to be placed in an interior environment only. My sculptures are photographed both inside & outside. The interior shots (White background) are intended to give the viewer a sense of what my work would look like in an interior setting. The exterior shots were important to give the viewer a more accurate sense of color and texture, and perfectly balanced natural light without unflattering shadows. I have always had an affinity for creating with wood. Over the years I've restored 10 properties. Several were historic. One is listed on the National Registry of Historic Structures. I've also built wooden boats. My career was dedicated to teaching studio art at three different colleges over a period of 44 years. I've exhibited in NYC, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Florence Italy, Liverpool England, and numerous museums and galleries throughout the US. Creating challenging provocative work has been a life long goal. I consider myself a process artist. My that I mean... I enjoy making the work. After that I basically leave it in the hands of the gods. Argyle includes a removable base. The bottom 18” of the sculpture easily slides into the slotted base.
