This hanging assemblage piece is titled Aunt Madonna. I was almost finished with with piece when a friend of mine (who comes from a large Catholic family) stopped by my studio and took one look at it and said "That looks just like my Aunt Madonna". Hence her name. So many elements make up Aunt Madonna. A huge vintage Armand Marseille porcelain head that I painted with acrylic flowers, vintage floral tins, very old sleepy doll eyes, a baby Jesus, very old cat glasses that I adorned with water beads and paints, hand crocheted long curly dreads in ginger red/sky blue/petrol green (beautiful head of hair), vintage rhinestone earrings, a head wrap made from a scrap of my fave old plaid shirt, old Bible School pins, barn wire, old pockets watch parts, a Pope medallion, beads, composition doll parts, industrial strength resin, coque feathers, a blue send orange 1960's daisy brooch, more rhinestones, glitter, more acrylic, transfers, a "Sanitary Sponge" tin circa WW I and I suppose I could go on! A true one of a kind.
But as you can see from the photos, Aunt Madonna is truly a one of a kind, mind blowing, woman of the world kind of piece. Also inside the top portion of her tin body I fixed a music box which has a winder-upper underneath her hair. So you can wind her up and she plays a lovely tune. Aunt Madonna is one of my largest assemblage pieces to date. She comes with her own hanging kit for easy installation. Feel free to message me with any questions.
Enjoy - Paul.
