Four mechanisms of time that can all of a sudden bounce into the routine course of life with the occurrence of a natural catastrophe, a massive accident or a sudden death. This is how the Bèstia Negra is: unpredictable, relentless, uncontrollable... a phenomenon that escapes from the reason, and reachable for men, to highlight the unquestionable fragility of the human existence. There is no doubt that one of the main concerns of most human beings is to try to keep as much control as possible over their lives. This imposing sculpture aims to influence precisely that idea and the impossibility of preventing and deterring some tragic events such as natural disasters, accidents or multitudinous sudden deaths. The choice of the skull basis was very important in this work because, on one hand, the artist sought a smaller piece than usual, which was intended to express that this kind of adversity can break at any time of our lives, and on the other hand, it was necessary to arrange for a grim countenance, in line with the concepts he wanted to convey. Later, the piece is painted with a two-layer high-end material, this time in matte unlike the other works in the collection (R)evolution, alluding to the fact that when an event with those characteristics happens, the lives of those affected people ceases to shine and becomes sad and dull. Then an incomplete denture was incorporated to the piece, composed of small teeth manufactured in resin, a material that simulates glass and adds the counterpoint of delicacy and fragility to the work. And finally, the artist placed four Catalino mechanisms at the top of the skull, authentic collectors items that represent the idea that time is paralyzed by an event of such characteristics. A sculpture full of nuances and suggestions intended to confront the spectator to his inability to control the most unpredictable adversities and highlight, in turn, the undeniable weakness of the human species.
