Baby rabbit Sculpture

My husband and I live in the country and every year we look forward to seeing the new wildlife. Baby rabbits are the most common. We always spot a few of them since they live by the house in order to avoid the coyotes. This piece was inspired by those little ones, so small they could fit in the palm of your hand. Hand carved in Tree of Heaven wood. It is a light weight, medium grain wood and an invasive species in Michigan. We have a lot of them on our home property. They grow quickly and several of ours have fallen in the last couple of years so I have been harvesting the wood. When the wood is left outside for at least a year they develop their beautiful spalted patterns.
