Catherine grew up in New York City and the Berkshire Hills in western Massachusetts. She often spent time in her father's, Fred Leuchs, stained glass studio learning to use her hands and working by his side. His studio was full of his work along with her great-uncle's, sculptor Augustus Lukeman, a friend and colleague of sculptor Daniel Chester French. She grew up loving color and form with lines that flow. She has always loved tools. Her hands being her favorite. Initially she carved in stone, chiseling marble and alabaster until they revealed the sculptures hidden inside. Catherine then began casting her work in bronze using the lost wax process. The style of her sculptures has evolved into contemporary abstract art that explores human and organic form. Formally from the northeast and then Sonoma County CA, she has just moved to Palo Alto, CA. A fan of her work recently wrote,”Catherine’s beautiful abstract sculptures encompasses gestural form with figurative elements.”
