About The Artwork

Balance The installation was ordered by the “World Vision Armenia” organization, ideological part of which excited me because the issue that it touches exists in Armenia. The thing is that in many Armenian families’ male children are preferred upon females, because of which many sex-based abortions are performed. I consider such phenomenon as something very savage, and by this composition, I wanted to show how perfect nature is. In the installation, I used old mechanical details, car’s springs, on which I have sculpted and installed two calmly sleeping embryos. The position of their bodies reminds of a cycle when put together, which indicates the idea of completing each other. The embryos are put on the old scale’s wings that stay in balance. The audience of the installation can touch and move the scale wings, which eventually will return to their balanced position. The composition becomes complete by this last nuance, as the main idea of the artwork is to emphasize the fact that it doesn’t matter how much humans artificially interfere nature’s business, in the end, it will return to its preliminary and perfect form.
