About The Artwork

Knitted copper wire, porcelain on wood Physalis’ have a translucent husk enveloping its golden berry inside, just like a cocoon cultivating its butterfly. I am inspired by the transformation process in nature and the energy of life in growing and becoming. Also, Physalis in Chinese is “Gu Niang Guo” - which means ‘young lady berry’, referencing the phase when a young adult becomes a woman. Therefore, I use porcelain to emulate the translucency of the physalis’ husk and soft copper wire to celebrate the process of growth and my journey in becoming an artist.
