Science would have us believe that time began from the moment of the Big Bang, in theory nearly 14 billion years ago. Time is linked to the fabric of space, the 365 days it takes for Earth to orbit the Sun and our daily cycle of night and day. An era is a span of time linked to chronology, human histories and even geological time. This painted sculpural human artifact points to all those concepts and finally to the mechanical clocks designed to track time and the symbols we use to log our personal time on Earth throughout our life times! However it seems the human contrivance of the relativistic space-time has no equivalance in quantum time.

Those ideas persuaded me to attend the University of Victoria where I earned my BFA (Hons) by 1992. The target was to develop a symbolic metalanguage to facilitate deconstructive events while perusing the ideas of painting in Western art history. I have expressed myself conceptually through gouged plywood painting, encaustic painting, kinetic painting, glitter painting, nano painting and pure substrateless painting in a style I think of as reductive but thoughtful.
