ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A five hundred year old oak tree has been struck by lightning and died, and was so for several decades in the forest. The influence of the lightning, seasons and the twisted growth of the tree shaped this surreal sculpture furniture. The upper part of the old tree broke down and received his second life. Only the hardwood with his beautiful colour has been preserved. Four crafted curved butterfly joints of dark American black walnut stabilize the structure statics and to enhance the beautiful design. The development of the design for the legs has been a long process. They had to meet the extraordinary shape of the bench. Oiled (tung oil) and polished.
