About The Artwork

This artwork belongs to the artist's Obsolescence & Degeneration Gifts series; one facet of "Pandemonium of Versatile Objects", Laurent La Gamba’s most recent project. This project explores mass production and consumerism and the role they play in formulating memories and identity, through the visual coding of celebratory gift bows. The Obsolescence and Degeneration series reproduces certain elements of the O.C.D. gifts series by accentuating their character. In this case the artist produces a contrast between objects in a state of "symbolic decomposition" and a gleaming gift knot that evokes both the joy and the pleasure of surprise.
