Black Spider Sculpture Sculpture

Part of my Metal Morph series, where metal parts get repurposed as sculpture building blocks, and as a whole morphs into an organic shape. More than a thousand metal components like nuts, bolts, washers etcetera, fitted onto a black lacquered PVC sphere. All mechanical connections: screwed and bolted. The eyes are recycled mini light bulbs.

This sculpture was hung outside a gallery in Brussels by way of experiment, to make it age and rust and come alive. Safe to say that worked, it is no longer new and shiny. Some metals have rusted, some have weathered, creating a curious patterns on the overall shape. New photos will follow.

For shipping the legs come off and need to be installed by the recipient, using two screws per leg (provided). The legs are marked to indicate their position on the body.
