Sculpture: Paint on Wood.
Boxed In has been included in the Art Under Lockdown online exhibition in Rome.
Influenced by feelings of containment during lockdown and the fact that this restriction was shared by all.
Made from leftover dried paint from artworks in my Circle Collection, these fragments were packed tightly within the wooden box, confined, contained, restricted.
This work is ready for immediate hanging sitting snugly against a wall. Or it can be a freestanding sculpture.
On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists) .The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity.
THE SCULPTURAL COLLECTION
My process involves the exclusive use of dried rather than wet paint. I exploit the inherent flexibility in this material to cut, fragment, weave and layer. The result of this method is that with each artwork created there are inevitable leftovers that build up in the studio.
This series is a response to what would otherwise be discarded. All works in this series are highly dimensional and uniquely sculptural. Paintings that quite literally exist on their own without the need for canvas.
