Inspiration This wall ceramic sculpture is part of my Closed Sculpture Series. It explores combined forms that inclose space. ​I wanted to continue exploring wall sculptures as the sculpture takes on a different presence on the wall as compared to a freestanding sculpture. The inspiration was very much process driven as I was looking at ways to combine spheres thrown on the potters wheel which I then stacked on top of each other. I then applied colour and dots to make the form pop out and invite curiosity. There is something quite comical about this piece. I had this ceramic wall sculpture set inside a gold frame to create a contrast between this modern ceramic from and this classical frame. It is like there is a conflicting time element to it, between the present and the past. Together the artwork takes on a funky look and personally makes me laugh! I hope it can bring something fun to your life as well. This ceramic wall sculpture is made from spheres thrown on the potters wheel, cut up and joined together to create a whole form. It is set inside a gold wooden frame and ready to hang. Information about this artowrk Medium: Stoneware, vitreous slips, clear glaze, multiple fired to a final temperature of 1220c. I am a multimedia artist based in Somerset UK creating ceramic sculpture and painting. Why do I create art? Through art, I am able to step back and breathe in the beauty of exploration and self-discovery. Art provides me the freedom to explore my human potential and my desire to keep learning about myself and the world around me. What inspires me? The ancient monument Stonehenge, located not too far away from my studio, serves as a constant source of inspiration. The towering stones beckon me to question the mysteries of, belief, spirituality, time, space, the nature of reality, society and the human experience. What is my Art? I channel these ideas into my art. The results are unique and quirky, colourful, vibrant with a hint of depth, engineered with attention to detail, a study of the effects of form, colour and light. It is Abstract and Surreal, reflecting the world we inhabit and partly escaping it. When it comes to materials I don’t like to limit myself. For my sculptures I use a verity of clays, vibrant colours and glossy glazes. My paintings uncover an amalgamation newspaper, colourful oozing acrylic paints, reflective varnished surfaces and unconventional household paints. The sky is the limit! ​ ​My Mission? My mission is to create art that can enhance, add value and uniqueness to any space or home. I would like it to transport you to a place of curiosity and imagination.
