Ceramic Vespa - (scaled 1/1) Sculpture

This creation recalls the original industrial design, and at the same time the value of the ceramic product, with the originality that the artist has impressed with the traditional Sicilian decorations that personalize each piece, making it unique and unrepeatable, in its aesthetic completeness a "piece of art” worthy of being represented and listed in a modern art museum. It is interesting to know the realization phases, lasted several years, with plenty of difficult times and struggles. Before everything, there was a dream, just a simple and bit crazy idea, produce an actual size iconic Vespa all in ceramic. With a little research soon she realized that no ones had never attempted such big piece all in ceramic. She then visited experts and artists, whom always were advise against her decision and attempts. This make her even more keen to realize something unique that no one has never achieved before. The process that have seen in sequence the realization of a cast in fiberglass which was followed by various tests with the use of different clays, in order to reach the perfect blend for a stable and solid piece. Finally, after years of researches and study she finally discover a special ingredient, all natural, that mixed to the blend, strengthense the clay, a natural ingredient used in Sicily by ancient craftmen since the beginning of ceramic: the vulcanic powder from Etna mountain. Then the construction of different plaster molds was carried out until the first prototype could be made which was also patented by the competent office. This creation was then presented and exhibit at Palazzo Steri, in the heart of Palermo, on a modern art exhibition, among general admiration and amazement.
