A one of a kind piece of multi medium handmade art by J. Lamberte Marden of gallery Marden and Art By Lamberte (artbylamberte.net). Started as a gift and reached a high point at The Cobb Marietta museum of art when it received "The People's Choice Award". Hand made from studies facing and profile of Dale Chihuly's face. From hand drawings and profile carvings in floral foam this piece began to take shape. There are many components added to the floral foam including wood, plastic, cotton, acrylic, enamel, hair, glass, a real eye patch and LED's. Once the skin was applied to the foam, the task of painting and attaching glass hair one by one after all components were attached to the backer board. All was painted to match the artist concept of being under water like Chihuly's machias fanning out like coral in a coral reef. Reflecting as much of Chihulys style of glass blowing from the multitide of various colored glass that made up the hair to the light emitting diodes that light his hairstyle from within. Thoughts of glass... hence the glass hair, aiming at hyper realism with a 12 O' clock shadow. and cheek, lip and nose sheen. Dale suffered great loss in 1976 when his brother died in an auto accident that left him blind in one eye and facially scarred. His facial scars and any detail his face could offer was included in this piece of art. In hopes you will find it to be super real. May this piece add great conversation to your art collection, priced to sell at 20 grand firm... down from its value 35 grand since winning The President's award at The Atlanta Artist Center & The People's Choice Award at The Metro Montage show. Enjoy "Chihulys Light" NOTE: This art is far too fragile for shipping - local pick up is recommended. Thank you, Lamberte Marden
