About The Artwork
Just as celebrated American photographer Irving Penn created photo representations of tradespeople dressed in work clothes and carrying the tools of their occupations, I moulded this little sincere chimney sweep. This earth-born stylised figure faces the viewer with his natural dignity and pride, ready to be admired and to tell you a story of his honourable daily duty. A symbol of luck A figure of the chimney sweep is considered a source of good luck. This association, coming from British folklore, refers to prosperity, good luck and health. It is still believed, that seeing a chimney sweep on your wedding day brings great fortune for the rest of your life.
