ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Columna mutãtio -THE SPIRAL interprets Traiana's Column-masterpiece of art and architecture from Roman Antiquity. The message is the mutation of meaning that occurs in course of history. I interpreted the Column’s conceptual dynamic, the gestuality of the spiral movement of the frieze, the continuum, original polychromy, its various meanings, creating maximum structural and representational synthesis, unwound and emptied of all matter, reduced to pure geometry. Its horizontal layout alludes to the archeological artifact as a museumized object, a metaphor of the idea that history flows horizontally. Realised 2015-2017, the artwork is painting in manual artistic serigraphy in layers on alluminium support, calendered tubular structure in alluminium, iron base, 1-to-3 proportion respect of Trajan’s Column. The symbols of external surface interprets neolitic pre-Dacian culture and spirituality. Outer surface is inspired of Roman world, the intense chromatic evokes the force of life in color. All interact with written texts in Roman lapidary style. Whit symbols, icons and texts I create a new story in a free and new perspective. Exposed to Mercati di Traiano-Museo dei Fori Imperiali, Rome, 28/11/2017-20/11/2018 and Museo Nazionale Romano-Terme di Diocleziano 20/11/2023-20/04/2024.
