About The Artwork
" Coping " was inspired by sexuality and the struggle within. I chose the medium because of the figure's size and structure. Initially I created the figure in clay, then made a one-off mould, resulting in the work before you.. This I then dressed in strips of thinly rolled, treated lead. The choice of lead was because it's structure is impregnable, so, metaphorically protecting the character portrayed.... " Coping " is an edition of 1 ...
