cross section Sculpture

"cross section" is an abstract art object to hang on the wall and consists of 16 individual tree slices made of native plum wood. In all slices, the core was drilled out to avoid severe cracking during wood drying. Since this work of art was already created in 2011, the wood has already dried completely. Thus, no further cracks will occur. So that the strong, reddish-brown color of the plum wood comes into its own particularly well, each tree slice was finely sanded and oiled several times. As a carrier plate serves a cream-white painted, stable 3-layer plate of spruce wood, on which the slices are fixed with screws. This art object is supplied including wall hooks and dowels for easy installation. All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
