About The Artwork

I am frequent traveler, so I often find myself in situation where I fold the clothes to fit it in the suitcase. The purpose of these folding is to organise the content so that I can fit the most clothes possible according to my need in within the limits of suitcase’s dimensions and inside the weight limit assigned by the flying company. All of the measures are pretty much determined, the only variable is my actual need for the clothes. It is influenced by the purpose of the trip and weather conditions but it is determined by my personal preference. No matter how many factors are preassigned, content of the suitcase will never be the same, even if the destination and purpose of the trip are same. By folding the clothes in suitcase I’ve noticed that I didn’t have a certain order or way of doing it, the act of folding was random, idea of optimising the suitcase was completely absent. The folding became a routine for me and the original purpose was abandon by my consciousness as a trivial act, meaningless, just something that is happening in between. I was not thinking about it as an action that will provide me more space in suitcase. It all seemed as if I was just throwing things in suitcase. The the folding indeed seemed pointless. It occurs to me that this is the way the brain optimises it’s self, without me being aware. The brain folds, compresses and stacks informations, cleaning up its content, carrying only the most necessary data in it’s suitcase, the rest is left packed in a closet somewhere. What if our life can be seen from this perspective, or even our reality? This could mean that if a great deal of what we experience and do is just a routined actions stripped of purpose or meaning there is a big deal of life content we are not aware of or may not have access to. Or this just appear like this? Do we miss important things, crucial things in this process?
