About The Artwork
Dana Naumann - A FATHER AND DAUGHTER 12 x 8 x 7" 25lb pedestal lead sculpture. Miriam was a tiny baby safe and sound in Samek's knapsack, in the line destined for Auschwitz -- until Miriam's cry was heard by the Nazi guard. The guard's bayonet found the innocent hidden baby, and the guard's bullet found Samek's head. Work inspired by Sigmund Strochlitz (1916-2006) Survivor of Auschwitz. Donor and colleague of the founding of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. Personal friend of the artist.
