I'm interested in creating figurative narratives through allocation. Integration is key; I am challenged to overcome the unique oneness of an object in order to complete a successful work using numerous objects. The object itself, while still keeping its core integrity must surrender to the greater good...my end statement. Pulling from collective thought, the sculptures have a dream like quality, and are meant to bring on thoughtfulness to the viewer about the state of our "˜humanness'. The histories of discarded objects interest me and I focus on the associations our society has found in them; intentional or not. The fleeting values we have, and the question of worth is constantly explored. I use life castings, modeling, and paints to convey my thoughts. Detritus, castings, modeling, and painting, are all integral parts of the finished works. Specifically "Portraits" Allocating is especially affective for portraiture. When I create portraits I use a combination of objects given to me by the client and objects existing in my library. The effects can be overwhelming and quite personal.
