Dancing with Stormy Weather (cloud 1) Sculpture

This dancing porcelain figure with a head made of a paper cloud is one of a series inspired by transformation, metamorphosis, non-separation, and some feelings about body and mind. All of these are influenced by Asian art, including gorgeous ceramics from Japan, China, and Korea. Besides the shapes used, I'm also influenced by the scale of the decoration in relation to the scale of the art work in some Asian art. All of these works have been broken and repaired, under the influence of Japanese tea bowls. Like myself or you, the sculpture has a history that is reflected in its body. And there it is, incorporating a cloud into itself and dancing with joy in the physical world.
