About The Artwork

Description: This work makes reference to Wittgenstein's ventilator, which besides the usual purpose also served as background noise to counter the sound coming from musical instruments being played by students. The text Die Gefahr der Worte (The Danger of Words) refers to the book of the same name by M. O'C. Drury, a former student and friend of Wittgenstein, in which he publishes essays that demonstrate the influence Wittgenstein had on his own thinking and that of others. What is also being referred to is the popular children's game of plucking off and counting the petals of a flower while reciting "He/She loves me, he/she loves me not...."Medium: sculpture (iron, bowl, ceramics)Year Created: 2000
