About The Artwork

As our journey through life takes pace, we bond with others along the way, and this bond may be strengthened by the grip of love as our life becomes entwined with another. Appreciate the contrast in the lovers’ hands and their grasp of one another. This sculpture is finished in Patinated Silver and mounted on English Oak.

Born and brought up in Hampshire, Charles demonstrated an instinctive talent for art at a very young age, and decided very early on that art was to be both his passion and his profession. A desire to create in 3D was encouraged by his creating a fully landscaped and detailed railway layout in his formative years, progressing to miniature gardens for dollhouses. Always pushing the boundaries with his creations he began to experiment with casting and moulding materials, his creations increased in both size and ambition, culminating in the installation of his first work in resin in a sculpture garden at his old school. At college, having used mixed media in his first year, Charles was drawn to specialising in 3D Fine Art and gained exceedingly high grades, which could have created opportunity for further work at degree level. However, having successfully completed a BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Charles declined further study at University, in favour of self -exploration and experimentation with his chosen field of 3D visual art. Excited by a strong, clear vision and a determination to go it alone with a continuing interest in the human form, he has combined modern life casting methods and materials with traditional sculptural techniques to produce a truly unique concept in modern 3D fine art. He has worked alongside a materials company and an experienced model and mould maker to further investigate and hone his skill in his chosen medium. With his mentor’s guidance he has learnt many moulding and casting processes, developed new skills and suffered frustrations all in the name of progression. He has explored and experimented with combining casting and traditional sculpting methods with new and innovative finishes and patinas to produce a fine collection of individual and hand crafted pieces in a grown metal finish, thus realising his concept and vision. This journey of alternating fun and hard graft has culminated in a collection which he is justifiably proud to present. Each hand crafted piece would grace any true art lover’s collection.
