Award-winning glass artist, Dennis DeBon, is the creator of EnergyWebs™, one-of-a-kind works of modern glass art. Often compared to Jackson Pollock, an artist who elevated simple artistic techniques to a whole new level, Dennis has done the same by combining two techniques - reverse painting on glass and spin art. Each EnergyWeb is free-style hand-cut, scalloped, polished, then centrifugal force is applied. A multitude of application techniques and color combinations are used, then each piece is fired and hand-signed. Dennis is the only glass artist in the world creating these beautiful masterpieces. Reverse Painting on glass, is an art form as old as the Renaissance. In Murano, Italian artists used glass as their canvas. The artist must think in reverse, creating his artwork from back to front. Spin Art is an art form developed in the late 1950s by “action artist” Eugene Pera, who believed that art should be brought into the Machine Age. His “painting machine” allowed him to create dramatic abstract art. He never patented the process, and by the 1960s spin art became popular at state fairs and carnivals. Dennis was commissioned in recent years as the artist to create the Richard Dawkins Awards. In addition, his past creations were presented to James “The Amazing” Randi, Carl Sagan’s widow, Ann Druyan, and the winners of the Zora Neale Hurston awards.
