Euroexit Sculpture

This artwork is a warning alert. When the treaty of Rome celebrates its 60th anniversary, European Union is facing internal instability as never has faced before. Mistrust and suspicion among its people and specially, among some leaders, is driving Europe to an unknown historic place. The golden nuts symbolize where European Union is being strong. If the social convergence is far behind to be accomplished, the free trade of goods has been the biggest significant asset of this project. However, everyone must keep in mind that under free trade or other politics, there are people. The falling nut represents an eventual exit of any member. Forced or volunteer. And the bloody red, signifies the people suffering. A member exit will not be painless to a countless number of people. The artwork consists of a painted wooden plate and 12 lacquered steel nuts. This artwork is to be stored indoors.
