The ebb and flow of the family's ocean breathes both hard and soft. This artwork is about ties in families: some ties abide, some connections need to go, some wither on the vine, some are reinforced and get a new life and encourage growth. An exploration of materials, delicate and fragile such as vintage silk, organza, chiffon, wool and acetate ribbons builds intuitive connections and summarizes itself as a tight grid work which further is reinforced with layers of oil paint. The vintage wooden frame becomes part of the artwork and offers both support and meaning for the piece.
