ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My totems, which are created by combining crystals and bronze seedpods, are a ceremonial celebration of a life reforged. While the sacred feminine seedpods are held up as the focal points, the pieces intentionally combine masculine and feminine energies – both in the conceptualisation of the works and their physical manufacturing. It is the inextricable interweaving of these two elements that is ultimately life-giving at its core. Chrysocolla helps us to accept situations that are constantly changing and to pursue our own goals despite ups and downs. Aventurine Quartz promotes versatile thought and enthusiasm. Topped with a bronze Tipu seedpod, which is distributed by flying through the air like a little helicopter, this totem gives us all we need to take that leap. Materials: Bronze Tipu Tree seedpod. Chrysocolla and Aventurine gemstones. Stainless steel base with patinated brass cladding.

Sarah Heinamann is a contemporary artist and sculptor based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her work examines and combines the connection of the immaterial with the material. "My sculptures are infused with intention, and positive energy, and I hope they will bring joy, beauty and a sense of wonder to your daily life.” Inspired by significant changes in her personal life, Sarah's first collection was a series of oversized bronze seedpods. By celebrating each seedpod's unique and beautiful natural form, she pays homage to the birth, life, and death cycle in nature and our own lives. In her second collection, Sarah was inspired by her shamanic travels to Peru. She started building sacred totems, which to her represent the link between heaven and earth. Her totems range from small sacred coffee-table objects to powerful structures that stand two metres (80 inches) tall.
