Forest and Sea Sculpture

There are certain elements in nature that are indelible. For me, some of those are from the forest and some from the sea. The Laetiporus mushrooms that grow throughout most of the world; commonly known as Chicken of the Woods were one the inspirations for this piece. I recall seeing these on many hikes and even in my own yard. I always liked how they populate in a uniform structure often scaling the side of a tree or dead wood. The other inspiration is a seashell, not one in particular but moreover all of them. The urge to look down while walking on the beach and look for shells is almost a compulsion. Each section is edged in steel and filled in with concrete tapering towards the top. The base section is also steel and concrete.
