"Girl eating an Apple" and "Girl with a Mirror" make light of the notion of the seven deadly sins, most specifically gluttony and vanity. Deceptively pretty, the cakes and their toppers coyly lead us towards temptation and desire, that is inevitably unfulfilled.

Jennifer Rogers is Associate Professor of Art at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she teaches Ceramics and Sculpture . She received a BA from Coe College in 2003 and a MFA from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) in 2007. Her multimedia installations and object based work are inspired by interior landscapes, domestic spaces, natural patterns and complex compositional arrangements. The work offers quiet, yet dramatic glimpses into the familiar. Her work has been exhibited in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, South Dakota, and Canada.
