6-8 repurposed plastic bottles made into a unique sculptural artwork!
A unique wall sculptural artwork, done on canvas with a beautiful texture of painted upcycled plastic bottles.

Coral reefs are the largest living structures, which are are now facing the biggest threat due to global warming and climate change. And is giving out their call for survival. The corals are in endosymbiotic relationship with the algae which supply energy for them. But these algae is being killed by the temperature raise in ocean water. The coral reef then starve and glow in 3 different fluorescent colors. and final bleaches out. My latest series of artworks reflects this phenomenon ..

I decided to work with the theme oceanlife, since they are most affected due to plastic pollution. In each of my works, the texture is individually cut and painted from discarded plastic bottles.
The artwork is done on canvas and the texture which is 100% made from upcycled plastics assembled on to it. The art will come framed. It will be signed on front and certificate of authenticity will be attached.

Swapna Namboodiri upcycles found plastics to create assemblages, installations and sculptural artworks. Her art practice is inextricably intertwined with sustainability. Nature being her favorite subject, she try to embrace the beauty of textures and patterns around her and create a visual treat in her works using reclaimed plastics. Her works often reflects the Japanese philosophy ‘Wabi-Sabi’- to embrace the beauty of imperfections. She embraces the imperfect organic shapes created by the hand-cut single-use plastics and highlights the textures in her artworks, making it a unique collectible piece of art!
