Art Description

Sculpture: Metal, Glass, Steel, Environmental, Textile on Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Stainless Steel, Glass, Steel, Plastic.

This Great Blue Heron Decoy is made from sculpted and painted metal, found materials, and wrapped in thread and steel wire for texture, colour, and shape. The sculpture is inspired by the Great Blue Heron's around Vancouver Island, where Blue Heron Decoy's are sometimes used to deter the solitary hunters from fishing in estuaries and other spawning areas. Equipped with 2 spaces for lights or other decoration, the bird is pictured with, and comes with an led orb light. With reinforced tent poles as legs and structural supports, the Blue Heron stands freely on feet filled with found heavy metals. (Note: when placed, the feet of the decoy should be fastened in position with an epoxy cement or heavy screws to prevent it from tipping over)
