ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Cast aluminum on polished marble base. Limited edition 2 of 7. Hiram Abiff is the legendary architect/builder, who was sent by Hiram, King of Tyre, to assist King Solomon in the construction of the Temple. Flavius Josephus in his Antiquities of the Jews (Chapter 8:76) refers to Hiram as artificer, craftsman. "Now Solomon sent for an artificer out of Tyre, whose name was Hiram: he was by birth of the tribe of Naphtali, on his mother's side (for she was of that tribe); but his father was Ur, of the stock of the Israelites.”

Sinan Polvan
Turkey
Sinan Polvan, born in Istanbul in 1969, was introduced to the plastic arts at Seniye Fenmen’s ceramic workshop in the years 1978-1980. After graduating from the Sankt Georg’s College in Istanbul, he studied architecture at the Technical University Graz and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, where he also attended the clay modelling classes. He is teaching at the Bahcesehir University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, and at the Fachhochschule Salzburg, Austria. Specialized in art, architecture and urban history, he is the author of various papers and works.
