Icons: B, 2022 Sculpture

Born in March 1994, Teodora Denisa is a self-taught artist and figurative sculptor, based in London, United Kingdom. After achieving two university degrees, in Advertising and respectively Marketing, Teodora decided to follow her passion and natural instinct of making art. Although drawing and painting have always been present in her life growing up, the interest in sculpture began rather accidentally, in late 2019. After an inspirational visit to the art museum, she felt strongly attached to the idea of making sculpture. The autodidactic studies and research began from there, and in August 2020 she started working on the first life-size figurative sculpture project. The unique circumstances as well as the development of the ‘Queen B’ project, flourished into an individual set of knowledge, sculptural skills and creative approach. For her sculptural projects, the artist’s main interests and research subjects are heavily inspired by pop culture, design, the beauty and shapes of the human body, as well as fragments of wildlife and nature. An editorial type of beauty and aesthetic represent strong themes in her woks, as well as an expression of individuality, femininity and power. The main characteristic of her work are reflected by a polished finish, meticulous details rendering, and pattern construction, as it can be observed in the decorative headpiece, facial features, and accessories of the artist’s latest sculpture, ‘Queen B’ 2021.
