Dan Del Bino (b. 1994) is a sculptor from Lafayette, California. Though drawing and painting came naturally to Dan as a child he didn’t discover his passion for art until high school sculpture classes. In 2013 Dan received a Presidential Scholarship from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He will complete his BFA in sculpture December 2018. At Academy of Art he has experimented with various mediums, his favorites being metal, neon, ceramic, silk screen, glaze, plaster, and rubber. Dan’s work experiments past the perimeter of conventional to discover what he has yet to be taught. Growing up Dan was curious to a fault and now he uses that gift creating new glazes and unorthodox techniques for application. He pushes every material to the fullest and past its boundary, while he prefers to create on a large scale. Dan’s body of work reflects the city where it was created, specifically the contrast between San Francisco’s evolving urban landscape and its uncertain ecosystem.
