I am fascinated by the space, form, composition and colour. I create dialog, relationship between them both. Trying not to analyze too much, I follow my intuition through free movement of expression. The whole process of making art is a meditation to me.. Keeps me present and focus on the moment and is very liberating... I strive for formal simplification and never knowing where the process of creation will lead me . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Pastel shades and complementary hues are brought into play with loose circular forms in the paintings and drawings of Sylwia Kaden. The work explores the dynamics of shape and colour and is certainly testament to Man Ray’s theory, that the ‘creative force’ within painting must ‘reside materially in the colour and texture of pigment’ and in the ‘possibilities of form invention and organisation’. Kaden indeed explores the relationship of forms to one another and, moreover, of colour by experimentation with pattern and utilising delineating contours. The resulting pieces consider the illusion of depth whilst simultaneously denying it, arriving at playful conclusions and enriching aesthetics."
