Interaction with a bird Sculpture

I’m a ceramic artist from Espoo, Finland. My connection with clay is deep. It all started as a child when I came across clay when playing around the house. Intuitively, I started molding animal sculptures from it. I then took some detours in life, but decades later I find myself back here, as happy as I was when I first encountered clay as a child. Animals are still my greatest source of inspiration. Especially dogs have a very meaningful place in my heart. At the moment I mainly make animal sculptures of different sizes, many of which are custom orders of a particular pet. Additionally, I make pet urns and mugs with a small sculpture of a pet. I especially enjoy the earthy colours of clay, and by mixing them one can find a lovely palette to use in sculptures. Colourful glazes are not my cup of tea. I always aim to make realistic pieces with deep expressions of the animal’s character. Therefore, truly grasping the innermost nature of the animal is essential. I work continuously to improve myself in this matter. I am forever touched by the intelligence of animals, and I wish to make my sculptures touch someone else’s heart by bringing great liveliness to the artwork.
